An arts festival is always an act of storytelling. It can present a vision of a community, a narrative of a nation, an angle on the world — or all of the above. In a post-pandemic landscape where many different storytelling industries are facing seismic changes, what stories should arts festivals tell today that will command attention and strike a chord?
SIFA began as a platform for amateur local performing arts groups, and evolved into one of many national strategies to position Singapore as a significant node on the global stage. The Singapore International Photography Festival (SIPF) is a ground-up initiative that also looks to Southeast Asia and beyond as its stage.
